Biography

Julie approaches every case with compassion, while aggressively representing each client. The practice is centered on the most important asset, which is the client. As a Tennessee native, Julie R. Canter has spent almost 20 years litigating in front of East Tennessee juries at the State and Federal level. Having tried over 50 jury trials before the age of 40 and hundreds of bench trials, Julie spent the early years of her career as a Prosecutor in East Tennessee after graduating from law school in 2005. During that 13 year tenure, she was the Division Head for a Criminal Court. Julie devoted her focus to victims of violent crime including child abuse, animal abuse, sex crimes, and homicide.

Julie is currently licensed to practice law in all Tennessee State Courts and the United States Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. In 2023 Julie was appointed by the Johnson County, TN County Commission to serve as interim General Sessions Court and Juvenile Court Judge. During her tenure as Judge, she presided over criminal and civil hearings, orders of protection, traffic court, and issuance of search warrants. Julie returned to private practice and her true passion for helping clients in 2024.

The practice devotes energy and passion to helping each individual client and is based out of Kingsport, Tennessee with an emphasis on family law, criminal defense, and personal injury.

Legal problems do not arise between 9 and 5. Julie understands this and makes herself available during your time of need. You need a knowledgeable attorney who can work to secure a favorable outcome.

Put experience, integrity, determination, and a client centered approach to work for you.
